One of the most common questions we get from people interested in renting SUP's from us is how to transport the boards to the beach without a roof rack. The video shows how we strap boards to the roof, everything you need is included in our low rental fees. You can safely transport up to 3 stacked SUP's on almost any car using this method. The EVA pads and straps are available on our website at:

Our new 2014 Blue Planet Soft Top SUP's are available now at our Honolulu Store and at select Blue Planet dealers.
This video was shot at the Blue Planet factory in November 2013 showing the construction process of the 2014 Blue Planet Softtop boards. The softtop boards are designed to be easy to use, lightweight and durable. The PC bottom sheet make the bottom very scratch and ding resistant, much like the bottom sheet on a snowboard. The deck and rails are wrapped with high density EVA foam which makes it safe and resilient. The bamboo veneer sandwich construction makes these boards strong yet light, the 10'6 weighs in at only 24 lbs. The boards come with tie down deck plugs, gopro mount on nose, self venting gore vent plug, and the new SUP Grip handle which makes lifting, carrying and locking the board easier than ever. The first part of the construction process is very similar to our veneer boards, check out the veneer board construction video on the construction page to see how the inside of the board is made:

This year's Wet Feet/ Blue Planet WPA race was held on the south shore from Hawaii Kai to Kaimana. It was the first downwind paddleboard race of the season and we are looking forward to many good races this summer. Thanks to all the participants and we hope to see you for the Wet Feet/ Blue Planet WPA Regional Championships, scheduled for September 15th.
Here is a short race recap by Jeff Chang:
Conditions were good and times were fast. The heavy hitters were out today and the battle for first was tight and it came down to the wire with Scott Gamble getting the edge on Kaeo Abbey at the last mark before the finish by getting the most out of a small wave. The winning time was 1:09 beach to beach! On the women's side favorite Morgan Hoesterey led the whole way and bested the field on a 14. Thanks to all those who came out to support and participate today and especially to the volunteers.

If you live in Honolulu and would love to own a Stand Up Paddle board but don't have a place to store it or a way to transport it (or don't want to deal with it), we have a simple solution for you. We are partnering with the Nalu Storage board lockers in Waikiki that allows you to own and store your board steps from the beach without hassles. If you rent a storage space from Nalu Storage and buy a SUP or surfboard from our shop, we will deliver it and put it on the rack for you at no extra charge, plus Nalu Storage will give you two months free storage if you mention that you bought your board from Blue Planet! For hassle free SUP ownership, follow these simple steps:
1) Go to http://nalustorage.com and reserve a locker, you can do this online. Make a note of the locker number.
2) Come to our shop and purchase a new SUP or surfboard, check this website for available models or pricing or come into the shop and we will help you find the best board for your needs and get it all set up for you. If you are not sure what to get, we offer a try before you buy demo program and free SUP clinics/ demos.
3) Provide us with the storage locker number and two padlocks (or order a combination padlock from Nalu Storage) and we will deliver the board and set it up on the storage rack for you at no extra charge, it will be waiting for you whenever you want to use it. Validated parking is available at the Royal Hawaiian Center, see Nalu Storage website for details.
4) That's it, time to enjoy the ocean.
Rental customers: If you are in Hawaii on vacation and your hotel does not provide board storage or is too far from the water, Nalu Storage also offers short term locker rentals which can be used to store our rental boards. We can provide the same delivery and pickup service for rental boards but charge a fee of $20 each way (flat fee regardless of number of boards rented).
