Requirements: Almost anyone can learn how to stand up paddle, but please let us know if you have any medical conditions we need to be aware of. You will need to be flexible enough to stand up from a kneeling position. Although the board is attached to you with a leash, we require that you can swim well enough to keep yourself afloat if you fall off the board. If you are not sure if you can, or have not been in the water for a long time, don't worry, you can still learn to Stand Up Paddle but please first take swim lessons with our partner Chris Day at oahuswimacademy.com.
This is a video of the second SUP lesson with Jenna (9 yrs old) and Quinn (7 yrs old). They both did very well and mastered basic stroke technique and turning manoeuvers on their second day out. It took me months to learn this stuff! Good job girls. Aloha!
