Family trip to Raglan, New Zealand, where I got to try the Armstrong Foils and interviewed Armie Armstrong
This is the video interview with Armie Armstrong, where we talk about how Armstrong Foils got started, the design, construction and features of the foils, issues with corrosion which led to using a titanium core in the fuselage, as well as tips for surf and downwind foiling, his experiences in the M2M and M2O races last year, the growth of SUP and surf foiling, and more:
This video is a recap of spring break family trip to Raglan, New Zealand in March 2019 where I got to meet up with Andrew and Armie Armstrong of Armstrong Foils. I got to demo the 1200 cm2 and 1600 cm2 foil wings with the new 72 cm mast. My Armstrong Foil Review: I only had two days of foiling but the foils felt good right from the start, well balanced, well designed and a strong, solid construction at a light weight, I was impressed enough to place an order and Armstrong Foils will be available at Blue Planet soon.
Traveling from Honolulu to Auckland is relatively easy, with direct flights and virtually no jet lag due to a time difference of only one hour (and a day). Both Hawaiian Airlines and Air New Zealand don't charge for a checked Surfboards. What's not to like?
During our trip we visited museums in Auckland and went up the Sky tower. In the Raglan area we visited Hobbiton, Bridal Veil Falls, Kawhia Hot Water Beach, Waitomo Glowworm Caves among other fun things, for details check the video and links below.
